Lawrence City Councilman David Freeman, a friend of the Corey family, led the charge in soliciting donations, blueprints, permits from the City of Lawrence, and volunteers to construct the bridge over Labor Day weekend.

Just by coincidence, our vacation fell on the weekend of the fourth annual “Evel Knievel Days” which features, among other things, a stuntman show by Spanky Spangler, a long-time Evel friend and admirer. This is the video of his crash into two city buses at 70 mph. Don’t ask why, just enjoy the action.
