Do You Have an Interesting Collection?
We're looking for Geist's largest and most unusual collections. You know, the kind that quietly take over an entire basement ... the kind that make all your friends and family scratch their heads and wonder why you can't keep this compulsion under control. The kind that turns otherwise sane folks into obsessive excentrics.
Maybe you are a concerned friend (or fed-up spouse) of such an afflicted person. We'd like to hear from you!
If you or someone you know has a curious collection, please contact Laura Gates at Laura@atGeist.com. Get the chance to explain your obsession to the world (or maybe, just to your Geist neighbors)!

There should be a law. A law against having phone numbers that denote words instead of, well, numbers. Hello! Its a phone, not a phone word. I hosted a TV segment last week for a national organization that is dedicated to educating people about a common, but potentially serious, illness. Their phone number spells the name of the disease.
That makes the number easy to remember, but impossible to dial on your cell phone when you are in the car and have to watch the road, balance your coffee, and try to figure out where the PQRS button is.

Recipe: Easy to Make Prime Pasta Salad to Share at Your Next Barbecue
Here is an easy pasta salad that is sure to get “0ohs” and “ahhs” from those who taste this delicious salad with a Greek flair, featuring feta cheese and black olives.

Annual Geist Fireworks on July 4th
Geist Lake Coalition members are feverishly dialing for dollars again this summer raising money for the annual Geist fireworks scheduled for Friday, July 4th.
"We need around $30,000 this year and every little bit helps," said long-time Geist Lake Coalition member Scott Rodgers.
This year's title sponsor of the event is Eddy's Neighborhood Bar & Grill owned by Scott Foster. While he wanted to do something for the community, it was his childhood memories of watching the fireworks that cinched the deal for the Geist Lake Coalition.
"When I was growing up in Fort Wayne, my fondest memories were going out on the lake in Coldwater, Michigan and seeing the fireworks on the Fourth of July," Foster ...
New Flex Fuel Conversion Services Saves Money at Pump, Environment
Geist local Adam Goldstein has a solution for rising gasoline prices. Owner of the Automotive Service Group off of Thunderbird Road near Pendleton Pike, Goldstein now offers a flex fuel conversion package that includes, among other things, a computer card that allows your vehicle to burn E85 ethanol.
"All cars built after 1994 had to be equipped to burn at least 10% Ethanol," said Goldstein. "With gas prices over $4.00 a gallon and ethanol around $3.25, people can save around 20% at the pump right off the bat."
Their new service available through IndyFlexFuel.com gives people the flexibility of burning regular unleaded gasoline, E85, or a mixture of both. Ethanol is not as widely available ...

Fall Creek Trail at Geist Dam Receives Improvements, Will be Extended to Upper Loop Trail and Beyond
The Fall Creek Trail at Geist Dam is a hidden gem I recently discovered tucked away along Fall Creek Road, just north 79th Street. Offering a quiet, scenic walk and filled with good fishing spots, this trail is optimal for nature exploration. On a recent outing, my kids and I spotted a mother and baby deer and watched a fisherman reel in a catch.
Thanks to the generosity of the Geist Harbours Property Owners Association (GHPOA), the trail now boasts some attractive and durable picnic tables and benches. A bike rack is soon to be added, as well. Just ride your bike on down and forget about packing folding chairs or ...
