Cambridge’s most popular event of the year is almost here. Please join your neighbors on Friday, July 3rd at 6 p.m. to celebrate this great country of ours! We will have music, refreshments, games, prizes and a few surprises. Throw together some red, white, and blue, and you may win a prize for most patriotic girl, boy, bike or golf cart. Please plan on gathering at the corner of Rocky Pointe and Chesapeake at 6:00 to begin the parade which will end at the gazebo for the party. If the party has to be cancelled due to rain, there will be a message on our website at www.CambridgeOnGeist.com. If you are willing to help man a game, set up, or clean up, please contact Rachel Quade at rachelquade@talktotucker.com. It should be another great party this year- hope to see everyone there!!!!

This year the Geist fireworks display will take place on Saturday, July 4th around 10 p.m. from near the island off of Bridgewater near Eddy’s and Bella Vita. This new location should be much more conducive to being able to view the show from your backyard for Cambridge residents! Some other exciting new events for the day include a boat parade, music, viewing from the Fall Creek bridge, a water ski show and more! Please go to www.geistlake.org for details regarding these activities and the closure of the Fall Creek bridge for the evening. This entire event is run by volunteers and funded through donations. We sincerely hope you will show your appreciation for this wonderful annual event by sending a donation to the Geist Lake Coalition Inc., PO Box 103, Fishers, IN, 46038.

Hosting the inaugural Geist Half Marathon & 5K will be a great opportunity for us to showcase our great community to thousands of runners and volunteers. Hosting a 13.1 mile event the morning of Saturday, May 16th will also come with some inconveniences for many of you living along the race route. Cambridge in particular will see excessive traffic from both the 5K and Half Marathon.

Springstone Road will be closed from 7:30 am – 8:45 am!

  • Number of Participants: Approximately 3,500 participants, 500 volunteers (over 5,000 spectators)
  • Race Time: Road restrictions will begin as early as 6:00 am on race day morning. The Half Marathon will begin at 7:30 am and the 5K will begin around 8:00 am. Both races will be through Cambridge by 8:46 am. See map.
  • Road Closures: During the time that participants are passing through Cambridge, all roads that connect into Springstone Road will be closed as well. There will be breaks in the runners and police will allow you to exit/enter Cambridge during those times.
  • Parking: All participants, spectators and volunteers are being instructed to park at the HSE High School and shuttles will be taking them to and from the start and finish areas. While police will be regulating traffic, we will not have anyone regulating parking along the race route. Be advised that you might see spectator traffic parking on cul-de-sacs or on side streets.
  • Waterstop: Cambridge will be hosting the largest waterstop along the race route near Cocktail Cove (see the “W” on the map). We need volunteers to staff and clean up. If you are interested in volunteering, you do receive a volunteer t-shirt and admission into the post party tent the Geist Marina.
  • Entertainment: Live entertainment will be stationed at 96th and Springstone Road. As their enthusiasm increases, so may their volume. We will do our best to keep the sound to a manageable level during the race.
