Lantern Road Students Help Create DVD on Hoosier State

Lantern Road-Randy Beard “Happy Birthday, Indiana…We’re Proud of You!”  Lantern Road Elementary School students helped create an original soundtrack to honor the Hoosier state. A celebration of Indiana’s 192nd birthday will be Monday, December 15, at 7 p.m. in the school’s gymnasium.

Students have written ten songs with the amazing help of artist-in-residence Randy Beard.  Randy and the students recorded the information/story songs.  The songs then became the soundtrack for a DVD that includes pictures from around Indiana, created by Lori Silbert, Lantern Road’s media specialist.  Roxio Media – Sonic Solutions provided 750 DVDs so every student and teacher may receive a copy of “Indiana Proud” on December 15.

In addition, LRES students wrote letters to people across the state inviting them to this special evening celebrating our wonderful state.  During the program, attendees will see and hear how this project came to be, enjoy Beard’s original music, receive their DVDs, have a chance to have them autographed by Beard and celebrate with cupcakes and punch.

One of the songs on the DVD says, “They gave effort to make a difference. They put heart in what they did.”  “The students were referring to Hoosiers who helped our state,” said Silbert. “The same could be said for Lantern Road students, teachers, administrators, PTO and Mr. Randy Beard!  Together we hope to impact the lives of Hoosiers across our state!”
