Lawrence Central’s symphony orchestra will present a concert at 7 p.m. Jan. 29 in the school auditorium. Russian pianist Igor Lovchinsky will perform with the students. Several high school and middle school students will perform solo pieces.
There is no admission charge.
Lovchinsky, 24, began playing the piano at the age of 2. He entered the Kazan Special Music School for Gifted Children at 5 after showing extraordinary promise as a pianist, improviser and composer. In 1994 he came to the United States with his family and won first prize at several international competitions. In 2003 he entered the prestigious Julliard School of Music in New York City under full scholarship.
