Pat’s Pub to Open for St. Patrick’s Day

Pat's Pub No, I’m not opening Pat’s pub in Geist…but, I do know who is!

Pat’s Pub is the dream of Pat Lair–a man who’s been with the Indianapolis Metro Police Department for 23 years! Lair left last August, after being injured on the job.

“I thought it was time for early retirement,” says Lair. “And now, it’s time to follow my dream!”

Lair is tapping into his Irish heritage and opening Pat’s Pub at Olio Road and 104th street next to Dockside Dental and Sonata Music Studios. “There’s nothing like it around here!” says Lair.

Construction was still underway on the day I stopped in, but, the bar was nearly done in a dark wood in the right hand corner–and the floor–which is the color of spilled cola–is covered in a tough epoxy coating.
Incidentally, the address was still up in the air—they thought it was in Fortville, but, shockingly, Fishers wants it!

Pat's Pub One detail that is certain is the target atmosphere of Pat’s Pub. Business consultant Charles Fryman –who has helped open several restaurants across the US—says it is designed to be a “gastro pub” –a British term for a spot which specializes in high-quality food. It’s a step above the more basic “pub” grub.

That translates to gourmet burgers, salads, beer-battered fish and a complete line of…well, Irish ales!
It is a pub atmosphere, but families are welcome.

“It would be an ideal spot for parents to bring college kids when they come home to visit,” says Lair.

Fryman and Lair say area residents have been stopping in every few days to see how they are coming along. “It seems like such a friendly area, “ says Lair, who lives in the Lawrence area.

Pat’s Pub is planning a mid-February pre–opening party with an official grand opening to follow. They plan to be in full swing for St. Patrick’s Day. And with five new plasma TVs, they are ready to go for March Madness!

Pat’s Pub plans to open an outdoor patio this spring, and they’ll have live music, as well. They also are looking into having golf cart parking since so many neighbors have made the request! Now that’s a Pub that’s trying to please.

Pat’s Pub promises to be an inviting, unique addition to the Geist area. So, from one Pat to another, welcome — and may the luck of the Irish be with you!

  • Shouldn’t the pub be opening AT Geist, not IN Geist?
IN Geist would be too wet a location for a pub.

  • You spelled his name wrong. its Lair

  • I have concerns about this new bar, which will be serving booze during the day, being located across the street from Geist Elementary School. I can’t think of another school in this area with a bar located so close to it. I don’t not think it is a good mix at all.

  • This sounds like a AWESOME new place to spend time with friends and neighbors in our community. Also, a great new place to take clients and network with our business owners in our area!
We need to think positivily about the location and not dwell on negative thoughts concerning alcohol service and its proximity to the school. Silver linings are all we can hope for in life..not a torn cloud of dismay. Be happy!

  • I can’t wait for the new gastro-pub to open. It looks like a pretty nice place and with all of those T.V.’s, it should be a great place to watch the craziness that is March Madness. And since the owner is a former I.P.D. officer, I think we should really show our support. I especially like the idea of the outdoor patio. That should be a wonderful place to be on a warm summer evening. Good Luck, Pat!

  • Are you worried the school kids will skip out at lunch hit the pub?? Personally I think it;s a good fit for the area. Can’t wait to try their food and ale. Love that they have a patio. Best of Luck, Pat. I hope it goes gang busters!!

  • Welcome to the neighborhood! Looking forward to your opening.

  • YOU HAVE GREAT PEOPLE OPENING A GREAT BUSINESS I WISH THEM THE BEST.

  • Isn’t the address (Fishers or McCordsville up to the Post Office?

  • Dockside Dental has a Fortville Address so will the Pub

  • I encourage everyone who loves and appreciates great grilled food to give Pats a try! Pat hired one of the most talented grill masters and a great person to run his kitchen, so there is no doubt in my mind that the food will be excellent. Congrats to Pat and his entire team. Jorge, I wish you best and am so proud of your latest accomplishments! Chef
