Mud Creek Players Opens 2008-2009 Season with a Midwest Premiere

Mud Creek Players have announced that their 2008-2009 season will open with the Midwest Premiere of “Me, Too!” written by Mark Goffman.  Goffman is a supervising producer for A&E’s new series, THE BEAST, starring Patrick Swayze.  Previously, he was a supervising producer for Law & Order:SVU and has also written for The West Wing. Geist resident Gary Cohen is directing the show, which he produced for the original California premiere in 2006.  Mark Goffmann is Cohen’s son-in-law and is married to Cohen’s daughter Lindsay. 

Inspired by true events, Me, Too! revolves around hopeless romantic Andrew, who meets the girl of his dreams.  However, the path to love and happiness proves to be more than he bargained for.  By falling into the everyday human flaw of lying, Andrew is forced to deal with his past and learn the true meaning of love. The play deals with mature subject matter.  The Little Red Door, an agency which provides free services to under served cancer patients, will be the beneficiary of the show’s preview night. 

The cast includes: Betsy Bullis, Brenna Campbell, Robb Day, David Pittman, Anne Phelan, and Paul Burton. 

The play will be presented Friday and Saturday nights, September 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, and 20 at 8 p.m. There will also be a matinee Sunday, September 14, at 2:30 pm. The matinee performance will be an ASL interpreted performance.  Tickets are $10 for Fridays and Saturdays and the matinee is $8. Additional plays in the Mud Creek season are:  The Soapy Murder Case by Tim Kelly, directed by Paul Haskin opening in November; The Girls in 509 by Howard Teichmann directed by Judy Chroniak; and Steel Magnolias by Robert Harling directed by Mark Bulmahn.  The Mud Creek Players have been presenting theatrical productions on the northeast side of Indianapolis since 1950.
