Top culinary talents will test their skills of quick thinking and cooking at an event to raise money for lung cancer and youth tobacco education. Cooking for a Cause will take place on Sunday, June 8, at the Chef’s Academy at 644 E. Washington Street and is hosted by Lungs for Life and The Chef’s Academy.
Competing chefs include: Eli Anderson of H2O Sushi, Neal Brown of L’Explorateur, Dave Tallent of Restaurant Tallent, Greg Hardesty of Elements, Ryan Nelson of Oceanaire Seafood Room and Chef’s Academy instructor, Jason Anderson.
The chefs will have 1 1/2 hours to prepare three dishes that include the “Secret Ingredient” (revealed to the Chefs only minutes before the event). As the chefs prepare their dishes, TV monitors and commentators will keep attendees up-to-date on what’s going on in the kitchen. The dishes will be judged by local “foodies” based on presentation, creativity and taste. This is definitely an event for the true foodie.
A brunch menu will be served and a silent auction will take place during the competition. The silent auction begins at 12:00pm, brunch is served at 12:30, competition begins at 1:00, and the top chef will be announced at 4:00pm.
Tickets are $100 for general admission and $250 for seating at the Chef’s Table (seated in the kitchen with 2 Chefs and sampling their dishes). General admission tables seating eight are available for $700 and 3 Chef’s Tables seating six are available for $1,300.
