From American works to world cinema, the 2009 Indianapolis International
Film Festival (IIFF) will feature 105 original, independent films made in 20 countries screened at
one great venue? The Indianapolis Museum of Art.
Film lovers of all ages will discover full-length and short-subject documentaries, comedies, dramas,
and animated films with cross-cultural themes, thought-provoking messages, and aesthetic appeal.
According to Craig Mince, IIFF programming director, “More than 400 films from 38 countries were
submitted for consideration. Of this number, our selection panel narrowed the line-up to 105 films.”
The ten-day festival, to be held July 15–25, includes opening and closing night parties, appearances
by actors and filmmakers, a Friday-night double-feature, and more.
“We’re thrilled to have the IMA as a partner,” said Dorothy Henckel, IIFF board president, who
noted there will be two IMA screening locations: (1) the two-level, 545-seat Tobias Theater known
as The Toby and (2) the 168-seat DeBoest Lecture Hall.
“Not only is the IMA a strong supporter of cutting-edge cinema, but it has fantastic facilities for
audiences that are very comfortable and accessible. The IMA also has great projection and sound
capabilities,” Henckel added.
IMA members are eligible for ticket discounts, as are students, seniors, veterans, and other groups.
