Picture a party for 3,500 people. Now picture that this party is 13.1 miles long and goes through subdivisions and busy streets. Oh yeah, and we need 500 volunteers to do everything from pass out water to pick up trash. We are recruiting a small group of “Volunteer Commandos” that will help the Inaugural Geist Half Marathon and 5K organize, recruit, and execute what promises to be a monumental event here at Geist.
Our first meeting will be at the Old National Bank at 79th and Fall Creek Road on Thursday, February 28th, from 7:00-8:30 pm in the board room. Food will be provided by Papa Johns Pizza (a sponsor of the Inaugural Geist Half Marathon & 5K), so come hungry!
“Volunteer Commandos” will be highly trained, well informed volunteer leaders that will be our “go-to” people on race day activities. This is a great opportunity to be in on the ground floor of something great and get to work with some of your new best friends in the Geist area.
If you plan to attend this first meeting, please RSVP by emailing me at Tom@atGeist.com or call 823-5060.

My husband and I are the original members of Kennekuk road runners an live in Danville Illinois. He is running the half marathon . Is there camping available? We have 28 ft motor home. I would be glad to assist at this event. Will not be able to attend meetings but glad to help @ the finish line pulling tags or aid stations
hi shirley, thanks for offering! Yes, there is camping off of I-70 and Mt. Comfort road and along I-70 there are several campgrounds to choose from. You might be able to camp nearby off of I-69 in Pendleton as well.
