Plan on attending this year’s “Blast on the Bridge at Geist” presented by the Geist Lake Coalition. This year’s fireworks show will be shot from the south end of the Geist Marina Village, just off of Bridgewater. To make things even better, the Fall Creek Bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic at 7:00 pm, re-opening for pedestrians at 7:30 pm to see the first-ever boat parade, ski show, and of course the fireworks around 10:00 pm. The entire event is free, donations of course are being requested to fund this year’s expanded, community event.
“With the bridge closed, we now have a mile-long viewing area for the community to come watch the fireworks,” said Brian Hall, President of the Geist Lake Coalition and founding board member.
Food vendors, including presenting sponsor Eddy’s Neighborhood Bar & Grill, will be stationed on the west end of the bridge serving food and beverages. Coors, another presenting sponsor, will be stationed on the bridge after 7:00 pm selling beer. And last but certainly now least, Oldies 101.9 will be broadcasting live and simulcasting to the fireworks display.
Residents are encouraged to arrive early with free parking in the Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church parking lot. Limited shuttle service will be available to take pedestrians to and from the bridge.
Kicking off the pre-fireworks festivities is a boat parade which begins at 6:30 pm on the south end of the Reservoir and culminates at 7:30 pm near the bridge. The theme is red, white and blue and all area boaters are encouraged to decorate their boats with lights. First place is a traveling trophy and a choice of a 2010 dock slip or winter storage courtesy of the Geist Marina. Second place is a very special Ski Nautique rocking chair donated by N3 Boats who will also be hosting a water ski show at 8:00 pm just north of the bridge. The Indianapolis Yacht Club is giving third place a Geist Reservoir tour and dinner for two at the IYC. Entry forms available at the Eddy’s and the Geist Marina showroom.
This event is 100% funded by donations and sponsorships, so show your support by donating to the Geist Lake Coalition! You can make a donation online this year by visiting GeistLake.org and clicking on the PayPal link or send your checks made payable to the Geist Lake Coalition to:

I would like to take my kids down in the morning to walk around and look at boats. Where is the best place to do this on Giest?
Not too sure we are ready to get too close to the Fireworks Saturday night. Do you know of a viewing area just a little further back?
Thanks!
