Geist Elementary Class Goes Green, Featured in IDOE Video

It started when Geist Elementary teacher Jacqueline Ward answered an email from the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE) about what teachers are doing to promote “green” awareness in the classroom. She shared a unit she had created and stories about the impact it had on some of her students.

IDOE then asked to feature them in a video on its website at http://ideanet.doe.state.in.us/green/.  To see the video, just click on the yellow “new videos” link where GES students appear in two segments.

In addition, Ward spoke for IDOE at the Environmental Education Association of Indiana’s conference at Camp Camby about a month ago. Plus, Ward and three of her past students will appear on Fox 59 this Wednesday to do a segment about “greening” up the holidays.  Ward said, “The kids will be doing activities such as wrapping gifts out of old newspaper, making holiday cards, etc.”
