Sometimes the best education happens outside the classroom. Such is the case with Lawrence Early College Junior Elizabeth Wheeler, an aspiring journalist who recently spent the day with Lt. Governor Becky Skillman as her Senate page.
"I had met Mrs. Skillman before at school, but never seen her at work in the Senate," said Wheeler. "Everyone had a lot of respect for her, it was very exciting."
Wheeler, a long-time Crystal Pointe resident, is graduating early this year and headed to the University of Indianapolis this fall to major in Journalism. After her experience at the Indiana statehouse, Wheeler's dream of writing for Time Magazine expanded to include political news coverage.
"Politics are very fast paced," she said. "I liked being able to cover a litte bit of everything."
