McKenzie Career Center Cosmetology students delivered food, hats and mittens to Anna's House collected during the holidays. Students traded haircuts and manicures for canned food, mittens and hats in honor of Lucious Newsom and Anna's House. Lucious, who operated the Lord's Pantry and Anna's house, passed away in August, 2008.
Students wanted to honor Lucious and keep his memory alive in the community by continuing his work. Anna's House estimated that the students collected enough food to feed forty families. Our thanks to all those who participated.
Cosmetology students will report on the food drive at the National Skills USA contest in Kansas City this summer. After their visit, the students have decided to do another drive before the end of the school year.
