Ameriana Hosts “Hancock County Stay-cation” Event

With rising gas prices, taking a family vacation to a distant location is becoming more and more difficult for many people. Ameriana is hosting Dave Scott from the Hancock County Visitor’s Bureau to discuss Hancock County “hot spots” on Thursday, Aug. 21 at 6 p.m. in its McCordsville Banking Center for people looking to take a vacation close to home.

Additionally, the event is free and open to the public, not just to Ameriana customers.
“We realize gas prices are hindering our customers and people in our community,” said Jeff Somers, McCordsville Banking Center Manager. “We want to provide options that many people in the community might not know exist that allows them to ‘get away’ without incurring the huge travel expense – a ‘stay-cation.’”

This event is one of many discussions Ameriana is hosting to reach out to the community and provide customers with more than just their banking needs.

Ameriana strives to help our customers with more than their banking,” said Somers. “We want to challenge them to learn and grow in all aspects of their lives.”

  • I’ve been shuttling Lynn, the kids, and two Kayaks up to Geist Park on Fall Creek (North of 104th & Florida Rd). They paddle and float downstream and I pick them up about an hour later at the boat launch on Olio.

It’s a beautiful little trip that only takes part of the morning. You can go farther up Fall Creekto 238 but there’s no public launch spots.

Sorry, even though you may have seen the work van with the Kayaks on the ladder racks, DistinctAV is NOT getting into the High Adventure Outfitter business :-)
