Ameriana Bank Contributes Over 1,100 Hours

By ManagingEditor Print Preview

Ameriana Bank, which employs only 166 people, contributed more than 1,100 volunteer hours in 2008 to the communities in which it serves. This was made possible by a volunteer program Ameriana implemented in January 2008. The program was designed to ensure community service remains a priority for Ameriana associates by allowing all associates to volunteer in the community 24 hours each year during regular working hours while still being paid.

“As a community bank, we believe in investing in and supporting organizations in our local communities,” said Jerome J. Gassen, President and CEO. “By allowing our associates to volunteer during work hours, we think Ameriana can make significant contributions to organizations they believe in and support.”

Ameriana associates spent time in schools, nursing homes, local homeless shelters, hospitals, food pantries, and with United Way and United Fund events and more.

“The community is important,” said New Castle Associate, Amy Huckeby. “This is where we live and work, and it’s a priority to improve it for everyone that also lives here.”
