Crime Watch – Neighborhood Patrol (NP)

Jim Cleek reported that due to increased speeding and disregarding of stop signs, particularly at the first intersection of Woods Bay Ln. and Old Stone Dr., Neighborhood Patrol has been concentrating their efforts to reduce this problem. They have been active in distributing warnings and ticket violations to the traffic offenders. Jim said that they have been very busy with this task.

This is a reminder that Neighborhood Patrol services all the GHPOA neighborhoods 24/7 with just 2 patrol cars. In order to deter the vandalism, speeding, and disregarding stop signs, many neighbors recommend NP to supplement their regular patrolling by adding an extra marked police car during peak times. To accomplish this, we are still asking each neighbor, if you haven’t done so already, to provide a voluntary assessment of $50.00 to our Crime Watch program. Please make the $50.00 check payable to Neighborhood Patrol, and mail it to Admirals Sound Crime Watch c/o Liz Matz at 8928 Serpent Circle, Indianapolis, IN 46236. Again, we appreciate your support and remind you that this is not an invoice and this is purely a voluntary request.

Information from our President Jonathon West

* The vacant property at the end of Nautical Watch is in need of cleaning up the weeds and debris. The GHPOA has approached Mariner Partnership, the property owner, who has agreed to clean up the area.

* The GHPOA is looking into getting bids to clean up the bridge on Oaklandon Rd. The purpose is to inspect the condition and to help it look more aesthetically attractive as this is one of the first areas that people see as they enter our subdivision.

* A new directory will be sent out very soon. This has been in the process for a long time but apparently will be delivered in the near future.

* A new Masthead street sign was installed at 106th & Geist Rd. with all new plantings.

* Standardization of mailboxes has been a hot topic at every meeting. As a reminder to every resident, mailboxes, as well as any exterior alteration or change to an existing building, must have the prior written approval of the Geist Harbours Development Control Committee to find out if it fits into the guidelines for Architectural Control. GHPOA is in the process of strengthening the covenants. If you are installing a new mailbox, make sure that you have approval from the Development Control. The Geist Harbour mailboxes have been approved before the committee. Not only are these mailboxes attractive, but it will give the neighborhood a more upscale appearance. Liz Matz is looking into the possibility of a discount from the mailbox provider, if we can approach them with substantial order. If you are interested in purchasing a new Geist Harbour mailbox, please contact Liz at LizAdSound@aol.com. You may also contact:

* There have been reports that areas of our sidewalks are crumbling and in disrepair. This is the responsibility of the individual homeowner. Please inspect your sidewalk, as we don’t want injuries to occur due to the poor condition. If the sidewalk in front of your home is in need of repair, please fix it. Thank you.

* Many trees and plantings hang over the sidewalk areas. Trees and shrubs need to be trimmed, so individuals may walk on the sidewalk without a tree branch striking them in the face. So, please trim your trees.

*Jonathon West has been elected to be the new GHPOA Board President. He will try to keep the association dues flat while focusing on better maintenance.

* A reminder to all residents to keep the storm intake grates clean and free from debris. When edging the lawn at the curb, please sweep up grass clippings, dirt, and roots instead of washing them down in the storm grates. This will result in a cleaner lake by reducing the algae growth. On this note, using fertilizer with zero phosphorus content is important for maintaining our reservoir water quality.

Easter Egg Hunt and Fourth of July Parade

Both the Easter Egg Hunt and Fourth of July Parade was a huge success. Thank you Heather Moore, Kristin Nowling, & Suzanna Annakin for taking upon this task to make our community family friendly.

Admirals Sound Neighborhood Picnic

In the past, we have had a pitch-in on Serpent Cr., where the men grilled hamburgers and hot dogs. There was face painting and a jumping machine for the kids. We are looking for ideas to make this fun for everyone. If you are interested in the planning process, please contact Liz Matz at LizAdSound@aol.com
