Crime Watch

We have organized our own Admirals Landing Homeowners Crime Watch Program. Your Crime Watch Block Captain information is listed below. If you would like to volunteer or find out more about our program, contact Admirals Landing Crime Watch Chair, Jo Carol Kimery.

Here are some basic steps to protect yourself and your family:

What can you do?

* Trust your instincts. If you think something is wrong it probably is. Call the police and report suspicious activity.

* Avoid dangerous situations. Don’t invite trouble. Use good judgment on where you go and what you do.

* Work with your neighbors and the police. People working together can prevent and solve many crimes.

What can you do at home?

* Don’t leave your garage door(s) open any longer than necessary.

* Leave some lights on at home, inside and out. If you are away, install a timer to turn your lights on and off.

* Lock your doors and windows. Activate your alarm when you are away and at home.

* Don’t open the door to strangers.

* Make friends in the neighborhood. Let them know when you are away. Watch other houses and let your neighbors know of suspicious activity. Offer your phone number and cell phone number to neighbors for emergencies. Stay in touch with your neighbors.

* If you arrive home and think someone is inside, don’t go in! Call the police immediately.

What about my car?

* Always lock your doors. Never leave your keys inside your car. Don’t leave a garage door opener accessible. An opener is as good as keys to your house.

* Keep valuables out of sight and locked in the trunk.

* Park in your garage or areas that are well-lit.

Work with the ALHOA and the Lawrence Police and keep emergency numbers handy.
Know the numbers:
Emergency – 911
Lawrence Police Dispatch – 545-7575

Also

* Notify the Police of any suspicious activity.

* Stay alert and be a good witness.

* Press charges. Assist the police in the prosecution of criminals.

What about those pesky and sometimes suspicious door-to-door solicitors?

* Don’t open your door. If you do, just say no. Inform them that this is not permitted in our community and that they should immediately leave our neighborhood and that you are going to call the Lawrence Police Department. This works.

* Obviously, never let them into your home.

* Those that you know (Girl Scouts, school kids you recognize), it’s your call.

Talk with your children. Be a “nosy neighbor”. Most importantly, be diligent and get involved. It’s your neighborhood.

Crime Watch Block Captains

Crime Watch leaders are designated by block. View our neighborhood map to determine who is your block captain. You can contact them by email from their email link below the map.
